Finally, another baby sweater! It’s Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Best Baby Sweater pattern from Knitter’s Almanac, released also within an problem of Style Knitting in the early 90′s. The yarn is equivalent to Elliphantom used here, Knit Picks Merino Style, in Vanilla. A superwash yarn may have been a better option, though. Oops. Past too far. It’s for my 60 day old neice. My buddy and the wife prefer to dress their babies in whitened. This other one was for my nephew, their first born. The knitting of that one continues to be accomplished for a few days and was waiting for only buttons. Now, it is simply waiting for a Small Moopy to accompany it prior to it being sent off.
Knitting along about this got me thinking, though, when you are waiting to knit, crochet, or sew, something for somebody who’s due and they do not know whether they are getting a girl or boy, you can always allow it to be in whitened after which, the moment the infant comes into the world, dye the finished piece another color according to if the baby is really a girl or boy. This way you might have the piece finished prior to the baby comes into the world, except the colour. It is simply a concept. I’m not sure if I’d really ever get it done myself.
